Aussies love pies. In fact, we could claim that we invented it! The most popular is the Four’n Twenty pie, being sold in grocery, petrol and convenience stores and at sporting venues and events across the country. Synonymous with sport, particularly AFL & NRL, Four’n Twenty is the people’s pie and has been for more than 50 years. Just serve it plain or with a side salad. Simple.
The name Four’n Twenty is derived from a story about King Henry VIII. Then entertaining guests, King Henry VIII would have 24 blackbirds placed in to the baked pie. When the pie was served at the dinner table, he would have the birds fly out of the pie.
